Coinciding with Lewis Hamilton’s victory in the Grand Prix, an official movie trailer for “F1” was released and excited the racing world. Launched just an hour before the iconic Silverstone race kick-off, the trailer promises much for Formula 1 fans.

Just before the iconic “Lights out and away they go” call at Silverstone, Formula 1 fans were treated to the official movie trailer of Joseph Kosinski’s upcoming summer blockbuster, F1. Coinciding with one of the producers of the film’s claim to victory in the race, Lewis Hamilton, it provided an ideal boost for the movie’s promotion.

Directed by Joseph Kosinski, F1 will be an experience, not just a film, taken to the cinemas. Producer Jerry Bruckheimer has promised that audiences will view perspectives that no one has seen before, such as actual speed and G-forces. The film features a specially made F1-style car and involves a retired driver named Sonny Hayes, played by Brad Pitt, making a comeback in Formula 1. Hayes returns to mentor a young friend, portrayed by Damson Idris, at APXGP, a fictional team on the racing circuit.

The scenes are filmed during real Grand Prix weekends, showcasing the team’s battles against the leading contenders in the sport. The ensemble cast features Kerry Condon, Javier Bardem, Tobias Menzies, Sarah Niles, Kim Bodnia, and Samson Kayo.

The challenge Pitt’s character faces is competing for wins at 60—a fictional narrative now surprisingly mirrored in real life by Lewis Hamilton, who made his history-making Grand Prix victory at 39 years and 182 days. Notably, Hamilton also acts as an executive producer on the film with Brad Pitt and Bruckheimer—another reason to be interested in the project.

Lewis Hamilton serves as executive producer alongside Pitt and Jerry Bruckheimer. Even before any action unfolds on screen, viewers hear the beginning of Pitt’s character’s first monologue. Adding to this, the music showcased in the trailer is the song “We Will Rock You” by Queen. The rock anthem is set against footage from the last season and a half of F1 racing, offering a tantalizing preview of the film’s ethos.

The trailer suggests that the APXGP race team will compete as a mid-pack contender, attempting to match the sport’s powerhouses: Red Bull, McLaren, Mercedes, Ferrari, and Aston Martin.

F1 seems to be able to deliver audiences an entertaining, fast-paced storyline that captures the essence of Formula 1 racing and the competitive spirit among top teams. Warner Bros. secured the distribution rights for F1 and has promptly revealed its release dates: June 27, 2025, in North America and June 25, 2025, internationally. F1 will make for an excellent summer blockbuster and a real treat for any fan of the sport.
