In an industry where fitness, entertainment, and social media increasingly intersect, Alex Verdugo is building something bigger than a traditional gym. As the CEO and Founder of Extreme Fitness, Verdugo has established a premier fitness destination in San Diego, combining high-quality equipment, a serious training environment, and a strong sense of community with a growing presence in the creator space.
Extreme Fitness has become known not only for the quality of its facility and equipment, but also for the caliber of people who choose to train there. Among them are some of the biggest names in the content-creation and fitness worlds, with creators traveling to the gym specifically to train, collaborate, and capture content for their millions of followers.
“I wanted to build a gym that people could take seriously,” Verdugo says. “The equipment, the atmosphere, and the people here all matter. We wanted to create a place where anyone — from someone just starting their fitness journey to a professional athlete or major creator — could come in and get a great workout.”
One of the most notable appearances at Extreme Fitness came from Vladimir Shmondenko, better known online as Anatoly, who has more than 24.6 million followers. Shmondenko made an unforgettable appearance at the gym when he arrived dressed as a janitor before revealing his incredible strength and outlifting unsuspecting gym-goers.
The appearance showcased the type of entertaining fitness content that has made Shmondenko one of the most recognizable creators in the world, while also introducing Extreme Fitness to millions of viewers.
“Having someone like Anatoly come into the gym and create something like that is incredible,” Verdugo says. “But what’s important to me is that he’s also coming into a gym that can match the level of training he expects. We have the equipment and the environment to support serious lifters.”

Shmondenko is just one of several prominent creators who have made their way to Extreme Fitness. The gym has also attracted photographer and content creator Kevin Achutegui, @Kevinachuteguiphotos, who has approximately 1.8 million followers. Jack Nauseef, @jacksdayinthelife, has more than 763,000 followers, while Kaitlyn Lujano, @kaitlynlujano, has built an audience of more than 947,000 followers across Instagram and TikTok.
The growing list of creators is significant because these individuals have countless options when deciding where to train and create content. Their decision to spend time at Extreme Fitness speaks to the facility itself as much as it does to the content they produce.
“Social media has completely changed the fitness industry,” Verdugo says. “But at the end of the day, the gym has to deliver. You can’t build a reputation on social media alone. People come here because they want a great place to train.”
Extreme Fitness has become a destination where high-quality equipment, serious training, and the creator community come together under one roof.
The attention is also contributing to Verdugo’s own rise as a recognizable figure in the San Diego fitness and business community. He recently appeared on the cover of Chula Vista Towne Magazine and has continued to receive attention from larger publications, strengthening his profile alongside the Extreme Fitness brand.
“I’m proud of what Extreme Fitness represents in San Diego,” Verdugo says. “We’ve worked hard to create a facility that people are excited to walk into, whether they’re coming here to train, meet people, create content, or do all of the above.”
As more high-profile creators make their way to Extreme Fitness, the gym is gaining organic exposure that traditional advertising cannot always replicate. Every creator who films inside the facility introduces the gym to a new audience, while the quality of the facility gives those visitors a reason to return.
With a premium facility, high-profile creators walking through its doors, growing media recognition, and a founder focused on building a lasting brand, Extreme Fitness is quickly becoming a name to watch.
Alex Verdugo is making his mark on San Diego’s fitness scene by proving that a gym can deliver on every level — from its equipment and training experience to its community and culture. And as more creators, athletes, and fitness personalities discover Extreme Fitness, Verdugo’s vision is becoming increasingly difficult to ignore.
